What is FTP or File Transfer Protocol? File Transfer Protocol is generally abbreviated as FTP to have more familiar look and feel. It is the way by which we transfer data from one computer to another computer either to do file recovery, transfer a working program from one computer to another computer or simply to show one computer another. File transfer protocol can be categorized into two major groups: Windows and Mac. The main differences are that Windows uses TCP/IP whereas Mac uses IP but both use similar protocols.
Windows service is often called Win File. It is a protocol that enables you to do file transfers from a Windows computer to another Windows server over the network. It is widely used in Windows environment and its functions are centralized over internet. For instance, if you download a program from the internet you can perform internet download without need of internet connection by using Win File.
On the other hand,TFTP stands for "file transfer protocol" and it is used to transfer files from one computer to another computers over the network using Internet. The file being transferred is generally saved on a standard computer file system such as CD, DVD or other digital media storage device. Usually, when you are working on the internet you will not have your own computer but workstations like desktops, laptops, workstation etc. All these workstations share common server and each workstation has its own assignedTFTP server.
